Es en 1960 que forma la agrupación que definiría su estilo musical definitivamente: «su Quinteto» y que sería la base de agrupaciones posteriores y a la que volvería en muchas ocasiones a lo largo de las décadas venideras.
Lantower Records presenta el Concierto en Vivo , que Astor Piazzolla y su Quinteto Tango Nuevo – segunda formación del Quinteto original de 1960, realizaran en Buenos Aires en 1963.
En esta Edición completamente Restaurada, se podrán escuchar versiones de Revirado, Fracanapa, Buenos Aires Hora Cero, Muerte del ángel, composiciones que pasarían a integrar el repertorio «clásico» de Piazzolla.

Características de la Restauración:
No hay compresión. No se utilizan filtros. Las frecuencias se equilibraron para lograr un sonido general equilibrado. Se aplicaron controles para sonidos fuera de registro o «rotos», con el fin de facilitar la escucha. Dada la diferencia en la calidad de sonido entre las pistas durante el concierto, se hizo un intento de hacer el sonido general lo más homogéneneo posible. En todos los temas se buscó conciliar el respeto por la estética original de las grabaciones en vivo de la época con las actuales posibilidades tecnológicas en relación con la recuperación del timbre y los fantasmas del sonido de cada instrumento, dar al registro el mayor realismo posible. Todos los cambios de altura han sido reubicados a su tono original. El lenguaje y la estética musical del Quinteto de Astor Piazzolla se pueden escuchar en el mejor equilibrio de sonido posible con total transparencia y definición por primera vez.

In 1960 Astor Piazzolla returned to Buenos Aires, after the New York experience – nothing successful, by the way – with his albums «Take me dancing the latin rythms of Astor Piazola & his Quintet» (sic) and «An evening in Buenos Aires». which he himself called jazz-tango.

Restauration features:
No compression. No filters used. Frequencies were balanced to achieve a balanced overall sound. Controls were applied for sounds out of register or “broken”, in order to ease listening. Given the difference in sound quality between tracks during the concert, an attempt was made to make the overall sound as homogeneous as possible. In all the themes it was sought to reconcile the respect for the original aesthetic of the live recordings of that time with the current technological possibilities in relation to the recovery of the timbre and the ghosts of the sound of each instrument, giving the register as much realism as possible. All height shifts have been relocated to their original pitch.The language and musical aesthetic of the Astor Piazzolla Quintet can be heard in the best possible sound balance with total transparency and definition for the first time.
