Wilhelm Backhaus fue un pianista alemán y una de las figuras centrales de la primera mitad del siglo XX.
Fue, no solo, uno de los primeros pianistas en grabar discos, realizando su primera grabación en 1909, sino también el primer pianista en grabar una obra integral como los 24 Estudios de Chopin.

Hans Knappertsbusch, también conocido como “Kna, fue un director de orquesta alemán, especialmente reconocido por sus interpretaciones de la música de Ludwig van Beethoven, Johannes Brahms, Richard Wagner, Anton Bruckner y Richard Strauss.
Cuando Bruno Walter dejó Múnich para ir a Nueva York, Knappertsbusch le sucedió como director general musical de la Ópera Estatal de Baviera (Bayerische Staatsoper).

Lantower Records presenta la versión Restaurada del concierto que reuniera a estos tres enormes artistas del siglo XX el 31 de mayo de 1962 junto a la Wiener Philharmoniker Orchester en el Theater an der Wien.

Características de la Restauración:
No hay compresión. No se utilizaron filtros. Las frecuencias se equilibraron para lograr un sonido general equilibrado. Se aplicaron controles para sonidos fuera de registro o “rotos”, con el fin de facilitar la escucha. Dada la diferencia en la calidad de sonido entre las pistas, se hizo un intento de hacer el sonido general lo más homogéneneo posible. En todos los temas se buscó conciliar el respeto por la estética original de las grabaciones de la época con las actuales posibilidades tecnológicas en relación con la recuperación del timbre y los fantasmas del sonido de cada instrumento, dar al registro el mayor realismo posible.

Birgit Nilsson was a Swedish opera soprano famous for her interpretations of characters from operas by Wagner (such as Isolde), Strauss (Electra, Salomé) and Puccini (Turandot). Nilsson is considered the greatest post-war Wagnerian soprano.

Wilhelm Backhaus was a German pianist and one of the central figures of the first half of the 20th century.
He was, not only, one of the first pianists to record records, making his first recording in 1909, but also the first pianist to record a comprehensive work such as Chopin’s 24 Etudes.

Hans Knappertsbusch, also known as “Kna”, was a German conductor, especially recognized for his interpretations of the music of Ludwig van Beethoven, Johannes Brahms, Richard Wagner, Anton Bruckner and Richard Strauss.
When Bruno Walter left Munich for New York, Knappertsbusch succeeded him as general music director of the Bavarian State Opera (Bayerische Staatsoper).

Lantower Records presents the Restored version of the concert that brought together these three enormous artists of the 20th century on May 31, 1962 with the Wiener Philharmoniker Orchesta at the Theater an der Wien.

Restoration features:
No compression. No filters were used. Frequencies were balanced to achieve a balanced overall sound. Controls were applied for off-record or “broken” sounds in order to facilitate listening. Given the difference in sound quality between the tracks, an attempt was made to make the overall sound as homogeneous as possible. In all the themes it was sought to reconcile the respect for the original aesthetic of the recordings of the time with the current technological possibilities in relation to the recovery of the timbre and the ghosts of the sound of each instrument, giving the register the greatest possible realism.
